About the SDHC
Encouraging the driving of horses and ponies as a sport and
recreation - Promoting good friendship amongst members - Improving
and maintaining the standard of driving and horsemanship
The South Downs Harness Club (SDHC) was formed in 1978 (30 years ago, this
year!!!). Since then it has increased it's membership to some 200 people. It
has become affiliated to both the
British Driving Society and the
British
Horse Driving Trials Association. Our events
are held mainly in Hampshire and West Sussex. However we have members from
as far away as Bembridge on the Isle of Wight, Dorking, Newbury and
Chiselhurst. Club activities, held within a friendly atmosphere, include
private driving, driving trials, social driving, training days, evening
meetings (mainly in the winter), rights of way, a monthly news letter and a
variety of social events.
